Coromandel Hidden Treasures

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

I came across a very interesting group during this Labour Day weekend, The Coromandel Heritage Environmental Foundation is currently in its last process of listing itself as a legal trust.

The trust will look for rural Coromandel bush land with historical gold mining traces and will form anmed-nz-goldmine.jpg heritage area for demonstrating gold mining features and monuments.

Potential properties will be listed at the trusts web sites and once approved by the trust members will be purchased and reserved in their natural state while emphasizing mining monuments such asĀ  mine shaft, mining machinery and dams.

The trust will try to reduce introduced pests such as possums while trying to restore the bush back into the state pioneers and gold miners has found it in the mid to late 19th century.

The Coromandel’s bush Fiona and flora together with its historical gold mining remaining will become a significant tourism resource in the next coming years.

being involved with the tourism industry in the last year I am aware of the growing potential of local tourism and believe the region’s proximity to Auckland together with its unique untouched landscape will play a major role as a popular New Zealand North Island destination.

This could promote travel and tourism related green industries within this beautiful region as well.

By utilising cost effective irrigation and gardening technologies we are now able to achieve a full return on investment of home growing of organic veggies within 24 month.

Eric Ben Meir is now consulting RAS-NZ on utilising European and Mediterranean agricultural technologies across the south-pacific.

With a BSc in Plant Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and over 10 years of experience in Turf and Urban Agronomy, Eric will assist us at RAS-NZ to develop solutions that will help customer save money using organic growing technologies (download Eric’s green roofs solution presentation from here) .

With the introduction of modern garden equipments and technologies, home growers are now able to produce organic vegetables while returning the initial set up cost in less the 24 month from first seeding, this could be done using small growing beds while utilising urban gardens, decks and roofs.

This post will be dedicated to presenting new available technologies that may help you save money while serving high quality spray free organic vegetable to your family’s plate together with providing organic gardening resources throughout New Zealand and Australia.

The post will demonstrateĀ  how a 2×4 meter organic vegetable garden can produce the required greens for a family of 3.
